Meant to Be? Don't Be So Sure...

Lemme give it straight: this blog is about "destined" and "God-given" hookups. If you're a "spirit-filled church" kid, you'll probably know about this; in fact, quite a few of you are or were probably guilty of this at some point.
I'm gonna give this scenario, and let's see if y'all relate in some aspect.

Church Kid #1: Oh my gosh, Church Kid #2! I received a vision from GOD!!
Church Kid #2: Really? What was it?
CK1: When we were in praise and worship, when Pastor Bob's son Axl was praying... he was praying so beautifully... God told me I was going to marry him!!
CK2: Omigosh!! For rizzle!?-... Wait. Church Kid #3 said the same thing.
CK1: Well, that is a lie from the devil, because Axl and I are destined to marry!
CK3: *overhears* Wha- you callin' me a liar?
CK1: Well, the devil is a liar!
CK3: Cracka, I'll--

Well, you understand what happens next. The point to all this is that one of the things us "tongue-talking" Christians are very much guilty for is that we tend to believe that people we like are some holy, immaculate Godsend; we tend to ignore the possibility that maybe, just maybe, those "visions" are nothing more than fantasies and emotions. We then throw those super-spiritual words and phrases like "GOD TOLD ME" or "I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A VISION FROM THE LORD", even the occasional "DESTINY". This especially tends to happen with a church or camp kid with a pastor's kid, especially if the latter is from a big ministry. I think the glamour of being married to a big-church PK and sharing in the social plusses of being spiritually awesome phases them and throws them off. Surely it's from God since it's in church, right?
Okay, you have fun competing with the 500 other people that received the same vision, because God doesn't do polygamy.
I tend to see that the true meant-to-be's are humble, a bit on the quiet side, and down-to-earth. They seem to be the least likely. And yet, God works in a way that is hard for us to get. That's why He's awesome.
Now, I've never done any of the super-spiritual dating game (thank goodness, saved myself the embarrassment), and personally, I don't think I'll marry a PK or a pastor. I would be living constantly in fear of shame and humiliation; I would be walking on eggshells all of my life.
Not cool.
Now, that's not saying destined marriages definitely don't exist.  But I think what most people behind the pulpit should and will get are wonderful spouses that are humble, patient, kind, and full of genuine faith and love for not only their love, but their Love. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. It will give better understanding.
Well, that's all I have. Peace.
