Okay. I stated in my first post that I did not like bad spelling or grammar. Now, street spelling doesn't count. "I did this 'cause I felt like it, so y'all gotta deal." That's one thing.
But just bad spelling.... lemme give y'all an example...
"Hey girl! Your awsome and i just wanna say that i recieved from you're message i hope your blessed and i love you lots!!"
Okay. Anybody else see what's wrong with that sentence?
The correct response is, "Yes, Ana, I do see what's wrong with that sentence."
In my opinion, when a person leaves errors in a document, he looks very sloppy. It looks like he didn't even bother to check for errors, and when he didn't even bother to proofread his writing, it shows that he didn't care much for the people who are going to see the document.
Now, every now and then, there will be an error or two that you might glance over, especially if it's in a large document. It happens to the best of us. However, when there's more than a few in several documents... it loses me, personally. Example: when there is a PowerPoint presentation (these are the worst) and there are mistakes and errors. To have it one day is bad enough. To not even bother to fix it and to let it stay "as is" shows a lack of care to me.
"But Ana, the message is important, not spelling! Why does it even matter?"
Because a big picture is often ruined by smaller details. A person who cares about his audience or crowd looks at everything. If he is not good at checking for mistakes like that, he needs to ask others to look over the document. The more it is looked at, the more accurate and correct it will be.
"Ana, you're so uptight about this!"
Okay, I'll admit that. And you know what? I'm not the only one. Out of every group, there is at least one just like me. There's always the person who gets distracted by the poor grammar and spelling and focuses on that instead of the great and powerful message being given.
This post was simply a vent post, since there were PowerPoint slides and a video shown in service this morning that, well, didn't exactly have high-school quality writing. I was also at a website that is meant to be professional quality for prospective young people and parents that had errors. Stuff like that really irks the stuffing out of me. I'm done venting now. Good night; it's almost 3 am.
By the way, I can't really say all this and not allow critique. If you see errors in this blog, point them out so I can fix them. Thanks!
